A delightful pair of little English Georgian or early Victorian mother of pearl handled work box tools. An awl and an exceptionally fine thread hook. Gold plated ferrules and forged steel blades.  Too quality.  Exceptionally luminesce mother of pearl with hand carved and incised stylised fleur de Lys decoration. All hand made all hand decorated. An incredible amount of fine artistic effort has gone into the creation of these tiny  treasures. Mother of pearl had only recently been introduced in to England subsequent to the south seas voyages that included Cook's "discovery" of Australia. It was primarily sourced from Tahiti and surrounding islands.  It was an immediate sensation on the English market and was used for all manner of items adding rare exotic appeal along with its obvious beauty.  Along with this huge demand and limited supply came often quite extraordinary prices. A real joy as collectables or for practical use within your needlework box bringing you joy with each use. Be sure to check out my other rare treasures listed with lots more to come. Combined shipping is available wherever practical. Thank you and good luck.
