Well made solid mahogany box, probably made for scientific instrument. The lid has central inset brass plaque engraved with owner's name, 'G Cundells'. There is also shield shaped inset brass escutcheon on the keyhole (no key).
Inside, the purple velvet lining is still present on lid but has been removed from the rest of the interior, leaving bit of mess that either needs to be cleaned off or relined. The hinges are good as are all joints and corners etc. Its all mahogany including the base.
Box measures approx 30 15 cm. Depth inside (not including lid) approx cm.
