Beautiful Antique Victorian CentrepieceAFTER THE FONTANA DELLETARTARUGHE IN ROME The centrepiece is silver and bronze, it stands 24cm (10”) tall 29cm (11”) wideand weights kilograms. It’s copy of the Fontana delle Tartarughe, in PiazzaMattei, Rome. The fountain was built between 1580 and 1588 by the architectGiacomo della Porta and the sculptor Taddeo Landini. If the answer is No, you have rareantique. have only come across similar to mine, brass one which sold inthe USA for $4,000 in 2015 and Silver and Gilt one. I’m sure there must be few out there but notfor sale. Ask any antique dealer have they ever seen or touched one. lay oddsmost will say no. This is not just ordinary centrepiece it was made in Englandin about 1860 it survived over 150 years and is in good condition. It is quitebeautiful. was told the reasons there are not many in the world today, was duringthe world wars lots were melted down for weapons especially in Germany The centrepiece has no marks, this wascommon, have never seen one like mine with any marks yet. The brass one thatsold in the USA had no marks. Just recently saw one similar to mine, magnificentsilver and gilt one with mark, asking price over $50.000.
