RARE MINTON 1850 MERMAID SIREN ON SHELL DISH for sale
This gorgeous piece of porcelain just screams nouveau. The two tailed mermaid siren is holding wreath in the air. She is on shell dish with two more shells in white for feet pegs on the dish. She is 'impressed Minton" and the #1874 or 1374. According to my Pottery and Porcelain Marks Book by Chad Lage these are the symbols used by the Minton Company for the year 1850. The mermaid's two tails intertwine over the edge of the bowl. She has long flowing hair going to one side of the bowl and scarf to the other side. This piece is six inches tall by 7-1/2 inches long. She is in overall great shape. The only flaws noted are two 1/4 inch rim chips on the edge of the shell bowl. Please refer to the pictures. have owned this piece for years and have never seen anything like her. Shipping is free in the United States. pack very well, priority, insured. Thanks for looking!
