Offered is rare Loetz art glass Figural Vase, Elephant with Top Vase Opening. This Elephant is blown crystal glass and measures 12 1/2" long, 1/2" tall and 5" wide. It is in very good condition, all original with no repairs. The only flaw is chip on the tip of one foot edge, see photo for closeup view. This is rare and beautiful piece of Loetz. Around the year 1925, Loetz Witwe was commissioned by an Indian importer with the production of glass elephants. These pieces used for flowers and sweets were bestsellers. The elephants were sold in several sizes and at first only exported to India but later on worldwide.
