Lighthouse Fourteen Foot Bank 1887 detailed blueprint plan of the steel caisson based Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse in Delaware Bay, Delaware. It was designed by Major D.P. Heap chief engineer for the U.S. Light House Board in 1886. The Lighthouse is unique because 73 foot high cast iron cylinder was floated out onto the shallow banks of Delaware Bay and put in place. The cylinder or caisson as it was called, was filled with concrete. On top of caisson was built the lighthouse building. The construction was completed and lighted in 1887…..plan measures 18” 22” and is produced on standard type blueprint paper…seajunk.com...Nautical and maritime research of blueprints..237…...
