Antique Victorian SteamerTrunk1900-1930s38.5 23.5 27 HThis is turn-of-the-century to 1930s Victorian antique trunk, made of wood, trimmed with steel hardware, hardwood slats, leatherette bands, and featuring lid with slight arc.  It’s large and heavy trunk, measuring 38.5 inches wide, 23.5 inches front to back, and 27 inches tall – perfect complement to any rustic decor. Please Note: This is large and heavy trunk. It was restored with new brown stitched-leather handles – otherwise the trunk and all of its appointments are original, including the steel handle brackets and lid stay.
Although there is no evidence of its manufacturer, its design and appointments mirror those of trunks produced between 1900 and the 1930s.  The undated lock (no key) is popular model of turn-of-the-century American trunk locks. If desired, your local locksmith could fashion working key.    The bottom, which has its original working rollers, was cleaned, painted, and sealed with polyurethane. The inside paper lining was removed and the interior was cleaned, sanded, and finished with tung oil.     The entire exterior was stripped and refinished with high-quality tung oil for protective finish, and the hardware was sanded, cleaned, and left with its aged patina.
An illustration of an eagle in flight was woodburned on the inside lid to complete the restoration.
As 100-year-old antique, certain amount of imperfections– dents, dings, rough spots – are to be expected; however, this trunk is solidand well-made, with no old, musty or stale odors. SHIPPING VIA UPS GROUND INSURANCE INCLUDED(Shipping cost reflects the size and weight of this trunk)
