ANTIQUE SILVER-PLATED EPERGNE DATED 1919 for sale

Made of silver-plated brass, this lovely old epergne appears to have been gift or presentation to two people almost century ago. The five plated trumpets (or vases used for flower arrangements) are supported by an elegant twisted brass stand, which would originally have been silver-plated as there is mark on the underside which reads EPNS 818. The large centre trumpet has an inscription that reads: 'To Mrs Mason & Mrs Piper from their Leadville friends 12/11/1919.' There is town called Leadville in rural NSW, although there is town in the US with same name. The silver plating on the trumpets has worn back to the brass in large areas, particularly on the tops of the smaller trumpets, although the silver on the large centre trumpet is in better condition than the smaller ones (see photos). There are also couple of small dents on the centre trumpet. Re-silvering would take this epergne back to its former glory. Stands approx. 18.5cm tall, when assembled. The large centre trumpet is approx. 20cm tall and the four outer ones approx. 15cm. POSTAGE WITHIN AUSTRALIA (standard): will vary according to buyer location, please see calculator.
