This is set of Vintage Tone 1919 No. 21 Deagan Dinner Chimes which came out of recent Philadelphia estate. They were made by J.C. Deagan Inc of Chicago, Ill. and the label on the back indicates that there were 37 patents held from Aug. 6, 1889 through 1919. These dinner chimes are typically played at the most elegant affairs on ship, railroad car, and at other special occasions as prelude to the announcement made on the PA and also to notify passengers that dinner is served. This vintage Deagan is imprinted plate chime No. 21 and can be hung on the wall via the two mounting brackets on the back and/or held in the hand while playing. We have sold many Deagan dinner chimes over the years, however this one is tone (most are four) and more importantly it is one of the best sounding we have ever heard. Also unlike most sets we have had each of the chimes is the same 1-1/4"x10" size but varies in thickness from 1/4" to 1/8." It measures 3"x11"x11" and weighs pounds.
